Sunday School

What does Sunday School at COS look like?

Every Sunday, young people are invited to join two adults, one lead teacher and one supporting teacher, for Sunday School in the parish hall. Students are invited to go downstairs for a lesson after the reading of the Collect of the Day.

Typically the Sunday School lesson lasts about 25-30 minutes and follows the following basic format:
  1. Opening Prayer
  2. Introductions
  3. The Lesson / Sacred Storytelling
  4. Response to the Story
  5. Closing Prayer

What is the mission of Youth Ministry at COS?

The mission of Youth Ministry at COS continues to grow and evolve to meet the needs of teachers and young people.

We identified the following aspects of our shared mission:
  • Teaching biblical and liturgical literacy knowledge and skills to young people at COS.
  • Developing an understanding of and appreciation for the spirituality of children.
  • To bring teachers and young people closer to God.
  • To build faith values and cultivate a love of God and church.
  • Helping all people find a language for prayer.
  • Teaching young people spiritual practices and including them in all aspects of worship and community life at COS.
